High-end Remodel in Northern Illinois:

Scott Berliant of Berliant Builders, Inc., contacted us a couple of months ago to capture shots of a  beautiful home they recently remodeled in Northern Illinois.

Renovating a home while preserving its unique charm poses a significant challenge.  From rearranging partitions, to opening up walls and creating new spaces, the process demands meticulous planning and flawless execution.  The photos showcase Berliant Builders' expertise, evident in the exquisite cabinetry, custom millwork and seamless integration with the original design.  The open layout enhances family living and entertaining, with a highlight on the spacious kitchen and family area as the perfect gathering spot.

Today we are showcasing the kitchen and dining areas.  Stay tuned for more updates on this wonderful home!

Video Wall by Barretts Technology Solutions:

Had a fantastic time shooting a video case study for Barretts Technology Solutions showcasing the incredible video wall they installed at Alter Brewing in Oak Brook.

Post-shoot, we captured some still shots for the final video, adding depth to the visual narrative.  The day was both productive and enjoyable.

Looking back at some project: Conference Room by Debby Hill, Key Interiors:

We have been going through some of our older portfolio the last few days at the studio and updating some of our wall art.  Revisiting past projects that you really enjoyed working on, somehow after the passing of time can appear fresh and new and even inspire you.  Maybe it's something in the composition or processing that  you really liked, but now would do differently.  Whatever the case, it's a moment in time in the development of your craft.

This conference room was designed by Debby Hill of Key Interiors.  We shot this back in May of 2017.  It was amazing then and seems even more so now.  More to come from this project soon.

Harbor Inn Condo - St. Joseph Michigan:

This Luxury Condo located at the Harbot Inn, in St. Joseph Michigan, was built by Master Craftsman Joshua Schmidke.  Completee seeral years ago, we recently had the opportunity to return and take a few photos of the project.  What was especailly impressive was that is looked absolutely new, even thought it was built nearly a decade ago.  the finishes were all near perfect and the cabinetry and trim looked as through they were installed yesterday.  Here are some favorites from the shoot.

Traditional Den in Chicago's Gold Cost:

Check out this incredible attention to detail by Geno Benvenuti during a remodel project in a famous older high-rise in Chicago's Gold Coast.  The Traditional de underwent a meticulous process where all the woodwork (the entire room actually) was first assembled at Geno's cabinet factory to guarantee a perfect fit before being reconstructed onsite.  Impressive craftsmanship at its finest!

Early Morning Shoot:

On location in Texas, we had a full day of shooting ahead of us.  We decided to start early, before the sunrise and shoot the interior of this Hilton hotel, then move outside and take advantage of the light as the Sun came up, giving us beautiful full light and some perfect shadow casts for the patio.  A few favorites below.

Taking Advantage of The Early Morning:

What do you do when you're out of state on location and have three large projects to photograph in a day?  You start early, really early.  These hotel interiors were shot around 4:00am.  The front of the hotel faced East, which meant I had about 15min of cobalt blue coming through the windows just before full sunrise.  The idea wa to get the lobby, restaurant, and bar photographed, before quests started coming down for breakfast, then shoot the edterior ata sunrise and take advantage of the blast of light and shadow cast as the sun comes up.

I really enjoy shooting commercial interiors, especially hotels.  The designers are often a bit over-the-top, with color choice and patterns.  Properly lighting the scene gives the photographer the opportunity to really make the images 'pop, without blowing out (overexposing) the light fixtures and windows.

This Hilton Hotel located in Texas was built by Level Construction.  If you're looking for a company to handle such a large project, you won't find a better one to partner with.  I will add some exteriors in a separate post.

Serendipity:

Sometimes, the perfect photo opportunity presents itself unexpectedly.  A few years ago, while photographing a hotel for Level Construction, a gentleman arreived in a Rolls Royce and quickly disappeared inside.  Talk about timing!  Here are a few favorites from the shoot.

The Perfect Cape Cod:

Flashing back to a project photographed in 2016 for Geno Benvenuti of Benvenuti & Stein.  This series of images has gained widespread publication, with this project wining numerous awards for both its exterior and interior design.  When envisioning the perfect cape cod home, this particular project immediately comes to mind.

Richardson Electronics - Key Interiors :

Earlier this year, Mary Price and I met with Key Interiors Director of Design, Debby Hill to continue a shoot of an extensive remodel of an electronics manufacturer.  I was impressed by the super clean layout of one of the assembly floors and loading docks.  The new office area was comfortable, accommodating and offered private offices, functional bullpen area and an in-office kitchen space for gabbing a coffee and quick meeting.  Here are some of the views.
