Evanstons First Passive House -

This project, photographed a couple of years ago, continues to win awards and attract national and local press. Among the most notable images circulating are the dining room and living room. Here we feature the three most popular dining room shots.

Architect: Nate Kipnis Construction: Berliant Builders Interior Design: Lauren Coburn. The dining room images highlight the room’s thoughtful proportions, material contrasts, and how natural light sculpts the space throughout the day. Each frame emphasizes a different element: the relationship between table and architecture, the texture and finish of the millwork, and the mood created by the layered lighting scheme.

More to come — we’ll feature the family room in another post soon.

Historic Secluded Chicago Backyard by Kings Landscaping -

We photographed this beautiful backyard in a historic neighborhood just outside Chicago. Kings Landscaping created a tranquil retreat for family and friends: an in-ground pool set within an expansive bluestone patio, framed by lush, layered planting. A stone wall transitions into a built-in outdoor kitchen — ideal for entertaining or preparing family meals — while the materials and detailing sit comfortably with the vintage character of the home. More from our summer shoots with Kings to come.

North Shore Chicago Apartment - Home Office -

Closing out the day with this quiet home office. Rather than the desk, my eye was drawn to the two overstuffed chairs sharing an ottoman — a small vignette that reads more like a second den than a workspace. I can easily picture the homeowners here, sharing the ottoman, sipping coffee and planning their day or evening. The handcrafted built-in bookcase is both beautiful and practical, anchoring the room with warmth and purpose.

Located at the back of the lower level, down a secluded hallway, the office sits in a peaceful pocket of the multi-level apartment — ideal for private work or a morning ritual. Stay tuned for more projects next week. Always, more to come.

Repurposed Home Office - Lovely Children’s Room -

Just a quick post of this large children’s room that was formerly a home office. Interior designer Aimee Nemeckay cleverly kept the built-in shelving and repurposed it to display antiques, models, books—anything that sparks the imagination of a curious 12-year-old. The results are wonderful. The room also includes a study desk, a custom wall for a model plane collection, and a serene privacy bath. Some favorites from the shoot below.
