Shot on Film - Michelle:

We photographed Michelle using a Minolta XE-7 paired with a Vivitar 100mm f/2 portrait lens on Fuji Asia 100F color reversal slide film. The studio lighting setup included Photogenic Machine Studio Master II lights, with the main light firing into a 48” Calumet soft box. A Pro-Photo 36” octagonal light served as a kick light, adding depth and separation. Overhead, a four-inch tube acted as a hair light positioned above the backdrop to provide subtle highlights.

To enhance skin tone, the main soft box also fired into a 36” golden reflector, creating a warm, flattering glow. This image is a small sample from one of four different sets we completed with Michelle. She was dedicated throughout the shoot and a true pleasure to photograph.

Master Suite by Berliant Builders:

We photographed this stunning estate home for Berliant Builders late last year. Here we want to highlight expansive Master Suite.   What stood out in Berliant Builders' work on this project was their commitment to preserving the home's original character. By opening up walls, raising ceilings, and incorporating exquisite woodwork and built-ins, they have enhanced every aspect of this exceptional residence.

We will do a  room-by-room detail of the property, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship. More to come.

42 North Architecture:

This assignment was just outside of Grand Rapids Michigan.  Initially, we were hired by the interior designer on the project, but thereafter the architect wanted images for their portfolio.  This sprawling ranch style exterior disguises the fact that this is a multi-level home, with high valued ceilings and more interior space than one could imagine.  I am including one interior shot just to give you an idea of how expansive and wonderful this space is.  It was a joy to photograph and remains one of our all-time favorite projects.

Shot on Film Jill Fernandez:

In 2004, we had the opportunity to work with Jill Fernandez for an extensive photoshoot, marking our very first collaboration. The shoot was for a comp card, and Jill's dedication stood out immediately—she worked harder than any model we had ever photographed. Her confidence and poise, combined with an ability to take direction like a seasoned professional, made a lasting impression.

Over the years, we completed several more shoots with Jill, but there's an unmistakable quality to that initial session that remains special. Photos featuring Jill continue to be some of our most viewed, reflecting the timeless impact of her presence. We look forward to sharing more images with you soon.

Shooting an Electronics Manufacturing Facility:

Shooting industrial spaces like an electronics manufacturer presents unique challenges. The goal is to make the space appear fresh and clean while still conveying the dynamic environment of a working production facility. This often requires extensive cleanup on-site: managing cables, organizing inventory boxes, and minimizing personal employee items to maintain a professional and orderly appearance.

Post-processing plays a crucial role in enhancing the final images. We focus on making any color elements stand out against the predominantly white and gray backdrop of production areas. This selective color contrast adds depth and visual appeal, emphasizing the sophistication and precision of the manufacturing environment.

Recently, we photographed Richardson Electronics shortly after they completed a comprehensive renovation of their offices, production, and shipping and receiving areas. The updated facility offered fresh, modern spaces where the balance between operational functionality and aesthetic quality was evident. Below are a few examples showcasing the clean, efficient, and vibrant nature of their transformed workspaces.

Flashback Friday: Neff of Chicago:

We had the pleasure of joining Nancy Olive of Neff of Chicago on a photoshoot back in 2015, capturing an incredible walkout pool house connected to the primary residence. The standout element was unquestionably the bespoke cabinetry crafted by Neff—an exquisite blend of form and function.

The contemporary curved counter immediately caught our eye. It was a versatile centerpiece, perfect for mixing drinks, pouring a glass of wine, or simply sitting and chatting with guests. Alongside this, the space featured a large custom wine refrigerator and a thoughtfully designed coffee bar, making it ideal for entertaining.

Storage was abundant throughout, with sleek cabinets seamlessly integrated into the design. A dedicated working desk with additional counter space provided a spot for crafts or office tasks without sacrificing style or practicality.

Collaborating with Nancy is always a rewarding experience, and this project was no exception. Below are some of our favorite shots that showcase the beauty and utility of this exceptional space.
