Signature Shot - Neff of Chicago:

This was one of the most consistently published spaces we have every photographed.  It is an award winning design by Neff of Chicago back in 2014.  I met Nancy Olive from Neff of Chicago on-site, in addition to needing some images for their portfolio, they were looking for a single image to use in a magazine ad.  That image, became a signature shot for Neff and ourselves.  Just a few favorites below.

Flashback Friday! Peter Scherrer & Jana Dahl:

Flashback Friday! It's 2013, and we had the pleasure of shooting for architect Peter Scherrer and interior designer Jana Dahl. Jana worked her magic, staging the rooms beautifully, while I focused on capturing the exterior. Inside, we put in the effort to get both daytime and late afternoon shots, showcasing the home’s intricate architectural details.

Looking back at these images brings a wave of nostalgia—this home was truly remarkable, both in design and execution. Jana's talent in interior design complemented Peter's architectural vision perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with both Peter and Jana on this project.

Here are just a few of the interior images. We will share some exterior shots soon.

Award Winning Interior Design:

This project stands as a testament to exceptional design, celebrated widely for its innovative approach and stunning execution. With multiple publications and numerous awards to its name, it continues to captivate enthusiasts of contemporary architecture and interior design alike.

In my 25+ years as a photographer, this space ranks among my all-time favorites. The unmistakable touch of Lenore Weiss, both an extraordinary interior designer and architect, is evident in every detail. Her commitment to excellence is matched only by her collaborative spirit, making each interaction a pleasure.

Thank you, Lenore, for the opportunity to capture this remarkable work. More to come.

Contemporary Kitchen by Mobili Mobel:

This incredible kitchen by Mobile Mobel was part of a large Chicago condo that we photographed for architect and interior designer Lenore Weiss. The galley-style kitchen stands out with its sleek design and efficient use of space. We were particularly impressed by the combination of modern materials and thoughtful details that bring warmth and elegance to this functional area.

A few favorites from this stunning project are highlighted below, showcasing the unique cabinetry, sophisticated lighting, and harmonious color palette. More images will follow as we continue to explore the captivating elements of this remarkable interior.

Note The:

  • Cabinetry Detail: The custom cabinetry features clean lines that perfectly complement the overall aesthetic of the kitchen.
  • Lighting Fixtures: Beautiful integrated flush ceiling lights serve as both functional overhead lighting and striking focal points.
  • Layout and Flow: The design promotes an inviting atmosphere, seamlessly connecting the kitchen to the dining room.

Stay tuned for additional insight into this extraordinary project.

Luxury Country Estate:

Patrick Falso assigned us to photograph this luxury country estate for Orren Pickell Builders last year. The secluded area and peaceful surroundings provided a perfect backdrop for this stunning home, which was thoughtfully designed to complement its environment.

Highlights of the property include an inviting outdoor porch off the master bedroom, ideal for enjoying morning coffee or a late-night cap under the stars. The expansive swimming pool and accompanying bathhouse, complete with a sauna, offer the ultimate retreat for relaxation and sunbathing.

Spanning several acres, the estate ensures a serene and private atmosphere is preserved for years to come. Below are some of our favorite images from the shoot.

Professional Post Processing Without AI:

The skilled professional photographer doesn’t just employ excellent composition skills and camera control; he understands that post-processing is essential to achieve a polished final image. For an assignment from Patrick Falso, part of a portfolio of exteriors, I scouted the home in the afternoon. Observing its position, I determined that an early morning shoot would yield the best light conditions.

What I did not anticipate weeks later was the onset of fall, which resulted in leaves blanketing the driveway, or that the sprinklers would activate just prior to my scheduled shoot. Given the tight timeline, I proceeded with capturing the property as originally planned. During post-processing, I addressed the leaves and the wet patches on the driveway, ensuring that the final images met the high standards expected.

Additionally, I undertook traditional retouching techniques to clean up a few other elements in the images, entirely without the use of AI. The results were well received by our client, Orren Pickell Builders, affirming the effectiveness of meticulous attention to both shooting and post-processing details.

Summer Shooting:

Our summer months are especially busy.  Here in the Midwest, contractors are eager to showcase their best work. It’s vital for these businesses to invest in quality photography that can be utilized for years to come in their marketing materials. Below are a few images that can effectively represent an architect, custom home builder, landscape designer, and swimming pool contractor.

Investing in high-quality photography allows these professionals to effectively communicate their brand and expertise, ensuring their work captures attention and leaves a lasting impression. Much more to come!
