Shooting Sky Zone Westmont:

Often, large commercial spaces undergo transformation to meet new market demands, as was the case with this outdated Walmart. Once considered too small for the modern shopper, the space found new life as a Sky Zone indoor amusement park. Capturing the scale and energy of such an expansive interior presented a unique opportunity and challenge for architectural photography.

Utilizing super wide-angle architectural lenses was essential to fully convey the vastness of the environment. In post-processing, the focus was on enhancing clarity and vibrancy, ensuring the colors pop and the dynamic atmosphere of the amusement park comes through vividly. Below are some of our favorite shots from this project, showcasing the successful repurposing of commercial architecture into an exciting, engaging space

Exceptional Reception Space:

Stepping off the elevator one is immediately greeted by this beautiful contemporary reception area, featuring artistic privacy glass, sculpted, dimensional partition behind the functional spacious curved receptionist desk.

The waiting are contains a large sculpted sectional couch with circular coffee / meeting tables.  Above the couch is a modern sculpted soffit with bespoke lighting.   The highgloss floor reflects the custom design of the custom furnishing and the large bamboo art balances the pop of colors.  A truly stunning design by Debby Hill of Key Interiors.

Smart Commercial Breakroom:

Highlighting a recent photoshoot for Chicagoland’s finest commercial design-build studio, Key Interiors, featuring the exceptional work of interior designer Debby Hill. The space perfectly embodies the principle of form following function, enhanced by bold splashes of color that bring energy and personality to an often-overlooked area.

Break rooms and similar spaces are frequently dismissed, yet for those spending long days at work, these areas become essential sanctuaries. It’s the thoughtful details and intentional comfort that make all the difference—creating a place where people can genuinely unwind and recharge.

Looking forward to sharing more from this inspiring shoot. Some favorites from the session are showcased below.

Historic Estate Restoration:

When a famous estate suffered extensive water damage from bursting pipes, the challenge of restoring its intricate woodwork seemed daunting. Master Home Builders Orren Pickell were called in and proved to be more than up to the task.

Their craftsmanship breathes new life into the damaged panels, skillfully replicating every detail so perfectly that the replacement woodwork is indistinguishable from the original. This meticulous restoration extends throughout the home, preserving the estate's historic integrity and timeless elegance.

Below are a few favorite examples of the restored woodwork that capture the seamless blend of preservation and expert craftsmanship.

MId-Century Retreat:

When you pull up to the front of this comfortable mid-century home in the Midwest, the transformation of the back patio is nothing short of breathtaking. The space has been thoughtfully redesigned to accommodate lounging, dining, cooking, entertaining, swimming, and soaking in the hot tub—all seamlessly integrated into a cohesive outdoor living area. Clean lines and natural materials complement the home’s architectural style, while inviting textures and curated lighting set the perfect ambiance. From cozy seating zones and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen to the sleek pool and relaxing hot tub, every element is executed with precision and care. Who said you can’t have it all? Some favorite moments captured from this stunning retreat are showcased below.

Summer Reflections September 2018:

This project was photographed back in September 2018.  The wonderful landscape work was done by Kings Landscaping and it one of our favorites over the years.  Everything about this space is just about perfect.

Shooting At Dusk:

There is something unique about photographing a project at dusk. In those fleeting moments, as the sun sinks below the horizon, the sky transforms into a canvas painted with rich hues of cobalt blue.  Facing west, this palette seems to shift and evolve continuously, offering an almost endless variety of color tones of yellow, blue, orange, and magenta.. These subtle yet vibrant changes create a dynamic backdrop that enhances architectural lines and interior details, making dusk an ideal time to capture the essence and atmosphere of a space with a natural, sophisticated glow. Some favorites from a shoot with Jerry Dardick.
